Wildwood Jersey & Alpine Farm
Wildwood Jersey Farm
was started in the 1960's with the acquisition of some registered
Jersey heifers which grew into a Registered Jersey herd and a dairy.
During this time period, a few Registered Nubian Dairy goats were
added to the farm. Shortly after that, a Nubian buck, Chickaming
Charger's Balfour, was added from the Chickaming Herd of Mrs. Carl
SAndburg in North Carolina. He arrived in Baton Rouge by railroad
car on July 23, 1967, the day after Carl's death.
The Jersey dairy has
been gone for a number of years now, but recently some Miniature
Jerseys have made Wildwood the home of some Jerseys again.
Over the years,
Nubians were the focus of Wildwood, but all the breeds except Sables
have found a home here at one time or another. Most recently
LaManchas and Alpines were featured.
We have recently
become an Alpine farm with the purchase of some outstanding Alpines
from the Pearl Valley Alpine herd dispersal. We want to thank
Jonathan Bland for these wonderful animals and the use of photos and
pedigrees from his website. We also want to thank Trish Duggar for
our two new Junior herd sires.
We do limited
showing at the present time but try to attend the shows in the
Jackson, MS area and the Delta Dairy Goat Show in Baton Rouge.
Please look around
our new website and if you have any questions or are interested in
more information on a certain animal, don't hesitate to contact me.
Again, welcome to
